Mary Ann Newman

Mary Ann was born in New York and over the years has lived some nine years in Catalonia, between 1977 and the present. She has directed programs such as the Catalan Center at New York University and has translated Quim Monzó, Xavier Rubert de Ventós, Josep Carner, Josep Maria de Sagarra and Joan Fuster into English. She received the Creu de Sant Jordi (1998) and the Premi Internacional Ramon Llull de catanlanística I diversitat lingüística (2022). She has organized the Sant Jordi NYC Book Festival with the CIofA since 2014 and she loves being in contact with the Catalan community of New York.
